On this page, you’ll find a summary of rules, regulations, and procedures for waterfowl hunting in this special area that affects all Canada geese and State wildlife refuges within it.

Daily bag limit: ten (10) Canada geese, including no more than one Large Canada goose during regular season ONLY

Hunt area: all of Del Norte and Humboldt counties (see our Google map)

Possession limit: triple the daily bag

* During the Late Season, hunting is only permitted on private lands with the permission of the land owner under provisions of Section 2016.


  • Regular Season: Oct. 31 – Jan. 25, 2015
  • Late Season: Feb. 20 – Mar. 10, 2015 * (no large Canada geese)

  2. Eel River Wildlife Area
  3. Elk River Wildlife Area
  4. Fay Slough Wildlife Area
  5. Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge

  7. Mad River Slough Wildlife Area
  8. South Spit Wildlife Area
  9. Waukell Creek Wildlife Area
