The Waterfowl Zone in which you are hunting determines the seasons, bag limits, and possession limits. One of the zones has several Special Management Areas (SMAs). When hunting White Geese in the Imperial County SMA, there are special rules. “White geese” includes the blue and white phases of Ross’ geese and Snow geese.
The regular hunting season for white-goose in the Imperial County SMA is from the first Saturday in November, lasting for 86 days.
The late hunting season for white-goose in the Imperial County SMA is from the first Saturday in February, lasting for 16 days. Warning shot!!! You can only hunt them on private land with permission of the landowner.
Bag and Possession Limits
The daily bag limit for white geese in the Imperial County SMA is 20. That’s up five from the 2015-2016 hunting year. The possession limit is triple the daily bag limit.
