  • Authorized Species: all legal species, but the following are common:

    Big Game: black bear, deer, and wild pig

  2. Small Game: rabbit and tree squirrel
  3. Upland Game Birds: blue grouse, band-tailed pigeon, California and mountain quail, and Turkey


  • Camping: fees are collected at self-registration stations in the campgrounds. Warning shot!!!  A permit is required for overnight camping and group events.

  • Fishing: NOT allowed
  • Hunting days: year-round during open seasons
  • Horses: allowed only (a) in the equestrian camp and (b) with a special use
  • Permits: required for
  1. Overnight camping
  2. Firewood cutting
  3. Group events (bicycle races)
  4. Horses
  5. Mushroom harvesting. (Also “Camping” and “Horses” above.)
  • Pets: must be under control and on a leash (see “Dogs”) above
